Wrestling without borders
The project “Wrestling without borders” establishes a joint cross-border platform to address young people in the border region and get them interested in wrestling. The aim is to bring young Austrian and Hungarian wrestlers together, to institutionalise joint cross-border sports events and thus to contribute to securing long-term sports cooperation between Austria and Hungary.
The popularity of wrestling has declined in the past decades in both Austria and Hungary, which is why both countries are struggling with youth problems. Through joint activities, this challenge can be overcome much better. In the project, the knowledge base in the border region is broadened through joint advanced training for coaches and teaching videos, and modular training courses for children and young people are built on this. They can compete with their neighbours in joint tournaments and training camps.
